Price Lock for XBL:
The short and skinny of the article is this, The price has been lowered to $39.99 for a year's worth of membership for people who are not in the free month trial or who have already purchased this offer.

The price is only lowered through October 31st of this year as the prices will actually be increasing from the normal $49.99 to $59.99 on November 1st. So, if you enjoy Xbox Live and want another year without having to pay the $59.99 price then I would recommend paying $39.99 before Halloween.

Gamerscore cap confirmed for XBLA:
"The Xbox Engineering Blog ran an article today on how the achievement system works from a technical standpoint. Inside the article, they also lay out the base requirements and DLC limitations of both retail and XBLA games, which are as follows:

1. A retail game must launch with between 5 and 50 achievements for a total score of 1000 points. DLC addons of up to 30 achievements and 750 points are allowed.
2. An arcade game must launch with 12 achievements for 200 points. DLC addons of up to 9 achievements and 150 points are allowed."

This of course comes with a few exceptions, but for the most part this is the new standard Microsoft has put in place for developers.

Gamescom: FIFA 11: Playing as the Goalie:
We put the new addition to "Be A Pro" through its paces.

A few weeks ago I ventured up to Vancouver to spend my day playing the fall lineup of sports games being developed by EA Sports. Among them was FIFA 11 and the many additions that EA has made to the game's "Be A Pro" career mode. The biggest addition is easy to point out in the crowd of other improvements: you can now play as the goalie. Not only does that open up multiplayer to full 11-on-11 games, but it presents a new way to experience the game on your lonesome as well.

Batman's Brave and Bold Connectivity:
The Wii and DS versions will work together to give players a brand new character to play.

Meet Bat-Mite. According to the IGN comics database, this little imp from the Mite Dimension "shabbily dresses like his favorite superhero, Batman."

He's also playable in the upcoming Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

The reason I bring this guy up: he's one of the rare instances of Nintendo DS to Wii connectivity. Here we are six years into the Nintendo DS's life and four year's into Wii's, and very few developers have taken advantage of the feature where the Nintendo DS can communicate wirelessly with the Wii console.

Madden NFL 11 Review:
The shift in focus for this year's game will excite some, but others might be disappointed.

For years Madden has been building features, gameplay modes and control mechanics for the hardcore football fans of the world. It was trying to emulate even the smallest details of NFL football and EA Sports enjoyed lots of success with its endeavors. But in recent years many newcomers were turned off by the complexities that Madden brought to the table. With that in mind EA created Madden NFL 11, an iteration of the series that is built more with the mainstream fan in mind, while still not losing any of the hardcore-focused accoutrements that have made their way into the package in past years.

Following in the footsteps of Fallout: New Vegas, Bethesda will be offering several different pre-order bonuses for Brink, each exclusive to specific outlets. Brink isn't due out until Spring of 2011, but that didn't stop developer Splash Damage from teasing these pre-order goodies at a special presentation during QuakeCon.

E3 2010: Sonic Colors DS Preview:
Sega takes us for a ride with the successor to Sonic Rush.

Sonic Colors for the Nintendo DS is, for all intents and purposes, a successor to the well-received Sonic Rush and Sonic Rush Adventure. While Sonic Rush has been MIA on the DS since 2007, SEGA seems poised to bring the system another excellent, mostly traditional Sonic experience, with a few new twists to boot.

Sonic Colors DS shares the same premise and story with its Wii counterpart: Dr. Eggman has created an interstellar amusement park by lashing a number of planetoids together using "energy chains," and has enslaved the Wisp residents of those planetoids for his own evil purposes. As Sonic, it's your job to thwart Eggman and save the Wisps.

E3 2010: Marvel vs. Capcom 3 Dream Roster:
We suggest ten characters that may or may not take you for a ride in MvC3.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is quite a ways from being released, but it was still prominently displayed on the floor of E3 at Capcom's booth. Fanboys rejoiced as they finally got their hands on the game, but many questions still remained. Now that everyone has a general feel for how the game will play (after all, it's rather mysteriously built on the same engine as Lost Planet and Dead Rising), gamers are asking what characters will fill out the rest of the roster. Only ten characters are currently playable on MvC3 demos, meaning there are at least twenty more characters yet to be introduced. And Capcom is mum on additions (though our very own Mark Ryan Sallee extracted from Seth Killian that Amingo won't be in the game -- yay!)

A few of us here at IGN put our heads together to come up with a list of ten characters we hope might make the final roster. Five of them are Capcom characters, and five of them are Marvel characters, but they all share a common trait -- none of them have appeared in this fighting franchise before. But perhaps they will. Capcom, are you listening?

E3 2010: Star Fox 64 Returns:
I've already got a big grin on my face for Nintendo bringing back Pilotwings for 3DS owners. But it just got a little wider after I saw another franchise that's heading to the stereoscopic 3D system: StarFox 64. That's right, the Nintendo 64 game with anthropomorphic animals is being revived for a fresh experience in full 3D.

The demo that's at the Electronic Entertainment Expo is a single level of action that's based on the opening mission in the Nintendo 64 game. But this isn't a mere port or emulation: the textures have been given a definite upgrade with sharper detail and higher resolution. And your on-screen reticule is in multiple levels so you can gauge depth as you blast away at the enemies that wander on-screen.

E3 2010: PlayStation Move FAQ:
There was a time when the idea of controlling a game via motion was the stuff of Back to the Future movies and sci-fi novels. However, with the Nintendo Wii dominating living rooms across America and Microsoft's Natal set to put people into their games, the future is now.

And Sony doesn't intend to be left in the dust.

The PlayStation Move is coming to a PS3 near you, and it's bringing a brand new way to play. The next sword fighting game you play might require you to get off the couch and pick up your weapon, and a future level you dive into in LittleBigPlanet might need you to rotate the world with your hands.

We at IGN aren't going to abandon you as motion makes its way to the masses. Here, we've gathered the most common PlayStation Move questions and paired them with the answers we know. As we get more and more information, we'll update this FAQ.

E3 2010: Spec Ops: The Line Preview:
Spec Ops: The Line is treading different ground than most cover based third person shooters. In the past, producer Greg Kasavin has talked about how heavily the story of Spec Ops is influenced by director Francis Ford Coppola's Apocalypse Now (and by extension Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness), but during my demo of the game at this year's E3, the developers have also made it clear how much the game will resemble the film and book in its dark and unflinchingly violent tone.

A helicopter brings a building down with rockets, destroying entrenched indigenous resistance fighters. A highway is bombed, leaving torn apart corpses and blood streaked across a sand covered road, while maimed civilians drag themselves along the ground only to finally shudder and die. Blackened and mangled corpses hang from street lights and overpass signs, a message to those who pass. Explosions of white phosphorus burn a gathered crowd alive at temperatures of 5000 degrees Fahrenheit as a team of heavily armored commandos moves into sweep up any remaining resistance. Man's inhumanity to man and the horrors of guerilla war are on display in a way that games have typically glossed over or avoided entirely, and it makes for a very different atmosphere.

E3 2010: Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood Turns You Into a True Killer:
As you've probably already heard by now, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood is a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed II. You're still Ezio (when playing by yourself, not in multiplayer), but you're now 40 years old. You're still leaping and bounding your way through Italy, but this time you'll be contained to the hallowed city of Rome. In other words, the single-player in this installation will likely feel very similar to what was already seen in part two.

What will absolutely, 100% not feel familiar is the multiplayer because it's entirely new to Brotherhood. I got the chance to get my hands on the multiplayer in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood a few weeks ago at a pre-E3 event, and can say that those willing to adhere to the design philosophy will find an experience unlike any other.

E3 2010: The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword Announced:
Nintendo started off its E3 2010 press conference with a bang.

The company unveiled The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword for the Wii. The game will utilize the Wii Motion+ add on, allowing 1:1 motion tracking for sword swinging. Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto was on stage demoing the game.

Item selection and slingshot controls have been streamlined. To use your bow, players will have to aim the Wiimote at the screen and pull back the nunchuk. New items were also shown, a Spying Beetle, allowing you to see ahead and to pick up bombs, and a whip.

The game will be shown on the show floor this week.

The Legend of Zelda: The Skyward Sword will be out in 2011.
